Although the ancient Romans used strawberries for their purported medicinal properties, the first cultivated strawberry was recorded only in the mid-14th century in France. Then King, Charles V, boasted a garden of 1200 plants which pretty much kicked off the Euro love affaire with this humble berry. And these perfectly formed, boldly colored delights are naughtily nibblesome so let’s hear it for the sassy strawberry!
